The Juukan Gorge represented not only a sacred place for the community of Puutu Kunti Kurrama and Pinikura but also an important testimony of the human presence on the entire Australian continent.

The destruction caused in May 2020 by the company Rio Tinto to expand an iron ore mine is just another example of the irreversible damage that man too often causes to his heritage and ultimately to his past.

Since this event has recently occurred at the moment there are not enough academic papers available, we preliminary provide other publications that will help you to deepen this subject. We hope to be able to enrich the section in the future.
